The Watauga Lake Experience is a 2-day series of events around Watauga Lake giving visitors a chance to see the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains, to learn about the history of the area at the Butler Museum, to shop for local crafts and to just have fun.

Organizers are planning boat rides to the location of Old Butler, the town that was sacrificed for this TVA lake. In addition, there will be a dinner and play at the Little Milligan School, a scavenger hunt, hay rides and the Poga Float, a "ducky" race down the Elk River.
