"Red Tail wants to be a good neighbor, and we hope this event will provide fun and fellowship for those who attend. We encourage folks in the community to come and see what we're all about." Activities for children included large, inflatable slides from Jump Inc. of Boone North Carolina and booths where they could practice jewelry making and other crafts.

Red Tail Mountain has a par-72 18-hole golf course designed by Dan Maples. The course is open to the public and has 400 feet of elevation change and beautiful mountain views. It is managed by Troon Golf. Members of the club will soon have a private lake house, boat house and day docks on Watauga Lake. Membership information is available at (423) 727-7931.

Future plans for the development include Lodge condominiums, available from the high $300,000s, 3- and 4-bedroom coach homes and a variety of homesites from 1/2 to over 2 acres.
