Pappy's Marina has long been a part of the Watauga Lake community. But with new owner Doug Bittner, the marina, now named Pappy's Marina at Pirates' Cove, has a fresh look and exciting plans for future growth and activities.

Bittner, who also owns properties in Banner Elk, North Carolina and South Florida brings a fresh and fun approach to this marina and cove. His fondness for Key West, Florida has been evident from the beginning. He purchased the Flying Cloud sailboat in Key West and brought it to the lake last year. The Flying Cloud is a beautiful and unique boat on Watauga Lake and will be available to rent.

He has also refurbished a large rental house overlooking the marina. It sleeps up to 12 and can also be divided up for multiple smaller groups. In addition, a fully furnished camper is also available to rent.

But the core of the marina remains the campers sites. Some campers have remained through many years and new ones are always welcome. Sites may be rented or purchased. Doug Bittner also purchased land adjacent to the marina which he named Pirate's Peak. The mountainous property overlooks the marina and lots with lake access are available to purchase.

Those familiar with Watauga Lake history will immediately recognize the updated Pappy's Marina as a great asset to the increasingly popular lake. Boaters can easily find the marina on the way to New Butler.
