Fathers' Day weekend 2010 gave lake visitors warm temperatures but lower humidity and virtually no chance of the afternoon thunderstorms and downpours experienced the week before. The marinas and the lake were filled with boaters, campers, swimmers and picnickers, much like a major holiday weekend.

Summer is in full swing around the lake as rental properties fill with vacationers and second homes are opened up again for the season. The lake water level is just short of "full pool" making the incoming sources like the Watauga and Elk Rivers accessible to boat traffic.

Next up. The Fourth of July Boat Parade.
