A full service flight school is also available at the airport. Flight training with Introductory Flights starts at $59. A certified flight instructor guides students through some of the basics of flying, offers a tour of the Elizabethton Airport facilities and shares a 30 minute flight. To register, call (423) 543-2801.

The airport was used for flight training by the Moody Bible Institute until 2005. They employed up to 35 people at the airport before they moved to Spokane Washington.

As the Watauga Lake and Elizabethton Tennessee areas continue to grow, there will be an increasing demand for good local airports. The current facilities and expansion plans of the Elizabethton Municipal Airport will position it and local citizens to benefit from that growth.
