During the 1950s, when the television portrayal of Crockett made him quite famous again, the Davy Crockett Birthplace Association built a replica of the cabin he was born in, built a park in the 3 acres surrounding the cabin and, in 1973, donated it to the State of Tennessee.
The state's Department of Conservation subsequently dismantled the cabin and rebuilt it to a design that they believed more accurately reflected the cabin during the time the Crocketts lived in it. The new design includes a marker which is believed to have been the original cabin's foot stone. In addition, the state added more land for campsites and recreation facilities.
Today the park offers 88 campsites, 40 with full hook up facilities, 2 ½ miles of hiking trails, fishing and rafting in the Nolichuckey River and a swimming pool The park's museum offers a variety of Davy Crockett artifacts, an instructional movie and a display of some of the toys and souvenirs related to the 1950s television show. The small shop offers for sale several interesting books about Crockett's life.

The park and museum have seasonal hours. For more information call (423) 257-2167 or check out the Tennessee State Parks website at www.tnstateparks.com
