The first wines were produced in the lower level of the conservatory with an experimental production techniques. The early efforts were poor and as William Cecil expanded the number of grapevines on the estate he also began the search for an experienced winemaker and a better facility.  |
The new facility turned out to be the estate's former dairy barn which had seen better days. Cecil hired a design firm to redesign and expand the facility to house wine production, storage and public rooms for tasting and purchasing. |
The Biltmore website (see link below) says the the Biltmore Winery is the most visited winery in the United States with over one million visitors each year.

The Biltmore Estate RestaurantsDeerpark RestaurantThis restaurant is housed in a barn designed by Richard Morris Hunt and, according to their website, specializes in "family-style dishes and Appalachian specialties." They offer a Sunday buffet and children under 9 eat at no charge. You are required to have paid an admission to the estate to eat here. |
The Courtyard MarketThis restaurant is very near the house and offers pizzas, sandwiches, wine and beer from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seating is outdoors. It is open seasonally. |
The Stable CaféThis restaurant had indoor seating and is in the transformed 19th-century stable. Some of the tables are in former horse stalls. It is located at the end of the stable area beside Biltmore House. Its menu features a variety of foods including chicken, fresh salads, and desserts. They offer a children's menu. You must have paid the estate admission fee to dine here. They serve lunch from 11:30 to 4:00 and dinner from 5:00 on. |
The Ice Cream ParlorThe parlor offers ice creams, frozen yogurts, draft root beer and other beverages. They are in the Stables Courtyard area along with the Bake Shop, the Courtyard Market and the Stable Café. They are open seasonally from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. |
The Arbor Grill at The Biltmore WineryThe Arbor Grill is at the Biltmore Winery. It offers outdoor seating and light lunches. Click here to see the Arbor Grill menu. Live music begins at 4:00 on the weekends. |
The Bistro at The Biltmore WineryThe Bistro is open for lunch and dinner and offers a fuller menu than the Arbor Grill. Click here to see their menus. The Bistro is also open for holiday meals. Click here to see their 2009 Thanksgiving menu. |
The Café at The Biltmore ConservatoryYou can burn some serious calories walking the gardens and paths of the Biltmore Estate. In the midst of these trails is the Conservatory with its outdoor café.The café features sandwiches, snacks, wine and frozen daiquiris . Open seasonally 11:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. |
The Dining Room at the Biltmore Inn
This is fine dining on the Biltmore Estate. The Dining Room is for dinner only and they have a dress code: "Collared shirts and slacks suggested for men; dresses, skirts, or dress pants and blouses suggested for women."
